Plain-language summary
When you do not have a user account (or when you're not signed in to it), we store exactly two things on your device: a flag that indicates you closed our announcement popup, and a flag that indicates you've seen our one-time sign-up prompt. Everything you type into an invoice or quote, any logo you upload, and the status of the "PAID" checkbox lives only in the page while you're using it and disappears the moment you close or reload it.
Without an Account
This is the complete list. Nothing else is stored.
announcementSeen_v1— remembers that you've dismissed the "what's new" popup, so it doesn't show again automatically. This remains on your device until you clear your browser's site data.authPromptSeen_v1— remembers that you've seen our one-time prompt inviting you to create a free account, so it doesn't show again automatically. Set the first time it's shown, whether or not you create an account. This remains on your device until you clear your browser's site data.
Your invoice and quote data such as company details, client information, line items, an uploaded logo, the status of the "PAID" checkbox, is not saved anywhere. It exists only in the page while you're using it, and reloading or closing the page clears it. If you want that information to carry over between visits, that's exactly what an optional free account is for.
With a Free Account
This page will be updated to list exactly what gets stored for a signed-in user. For example, we probably have a session token that keeps you signed in for a little while. We'll list anything else we add here.
Third-Party Requests
A few site features load resources from third-party services as part of normal operation. For example, our PDF export and email-delivery libraries are loaded from a content delivery network, and our tip-jar buttons link to Ko-fi and PayPal. Loading any web page inherently exposes standard technical information (like your IP address) to whoever's serving that resource, the same as visiting any website. Once it becomes available, if you actively choose to use the optional "Email Invoice"/"Email Quote" feature, it will open your own email client on your own computer, and pre-fill some information that you can edit before sending the email yourself. None of your invoice data is ever transmitted anywhere outside of our control. See our Privacy Policy for more on that.
